What is the monthly wage for doctor at UK?

  • There are many grades withing the NHS. £2,000.00 is about the wage for a Senior House Officer - the grade above HO (House Officer). Then pay rises according to promotions to Registrar, Senior Registrar etc. At the top of the tree the Consultants will be on from around £75,000.00 to £150,000.00 annually depending on their speciality - this doesn't mean a surgeon will necessarily earn more than a dermatologist because there is a side system running alongside basic wages where, if you are 'the best' for various reasons, including research, publications, you get extra money for that. Many Consultants also work in private hospitals so are well paid for this extra aspect of their work. They also earn money by making visits from hospitals to people in their homes (but this tends to be visits to the elderly so this would be exclusive to Geriatric Medicine) There are actually many ways to make money as a Doctor - but the Mr's still think they are a step above the Dr's - and that will never change!


  • About twice what it should be, they are now on about £100,000 a year, and do half what they used to do.


  • Anything between £25,000 and £150,000 pa (depending on experience and field).


  • It depends on which doctor you are talking about. Just finished his/her medical degree £2000 gross p/m. Has they progress this will go higher. Once they are in they speciality, this would change according to they field. Like Neurosurgeon would earn higher than Dermologist, for example.
